Heidelberg Clinic Presentation

History
The Orthopaedic University Clinic is a highly specialised centre, with 320 beds and over 1000 employees. It handles the diagnosis, treatment, prevention and rehabilitation of all congenital and acquired deformations, function impediments, diseases and spinal and muscular traumas. It also handles the treatment and rehabilitation of paraplegia.

At the clinic's disposal are the technology, infrastructure and organisation that meet today's' stringent demands and enable the clinic to continually raise the level of its care.

With a multitude of specialists on its staff, the Orthopaedic University Clinic nevertheless retains a focus on classical orthopaedics. Among the most frequently treated problems at the clinic are degenerative joint and spine disease, sports injuries, rheumatic diseases, deformations of the extremities and spine, post traumatic conditions and osteoporosis. Some 400 artificial hip joints and 200 artificial knee joints are implanted annually at the clinic.
